Functions of PMPB 

  1. We conduct Quality and Safety evaluation of medicines and subsequent registration for use in Malawi.
  2. We conduct Post-Market Quality and Safety surveillance of medicines marketed in Malawi
  3. We review and authorize  Clinical Trial applications for implementation in Malawi.
  4. We register pharmaceutical business establishments and enforce provisions of the pharmacy, medicines and poisons ACT through inspections of pharmaceutical businesses and policing of illegal drug handlers.
  5. We control the training of persons in the profession of pharmacy and coordinate their registration for practice in Malawi
